Can we get a list of 3DS and DS multiplayer games going?
Hey guys, I thought it would be nice to get a big comprehensive list of all the games for 3DS and regular DS that support multiplayer, be it online or local and multi cartridge or download play.
I've been doing 3DS game nights with my friends so I'm especially interested in local multiplayer games that support download play from a single cartridge. We had a fun night tonight of our usual Mario Kart 7, Tetris, and tried out the new Four Swords game. Then it hit me; all of my old regular DS games are just sitting on a rack and some of them might have download play multiplayer. Surprisingly, it turned out that most of my regular DS games supported multiplayer of some sort.
So I will start with sharing the 3DS and DS games I've got that support local multiplayer from a single cartridge for up to 4 or more players, but feel free to share your favorite multiplayer games for the 3DS and regular DS, too! If we get enough responses, I will try to compile everything into one big list.
3DS Download Play (Single Cartridge):
- Mario Kart 7 - Up to 8 Players
- Tetris Axis - Up to 8 Players
- StarFox 64 3D - Up to 4 Players
- Zelda: Four Swords - Up to 4 Players*
(*all players require game, but it's currently free!)
Do you need internet to play games on the ps4? The PS4 is highly reliant on an internet connection, even if it's not technically required. I don't think it would be a good idea to get one without any way to at least update it every once in a while. Otherwise you'll be playing buggy/glitchy games. Most games need patches this gen. With a cartridge, those same online services will still not be available, but you'll never have to re-download the game, and the offline part of the.

- Whether you download games directly to the console or to a microSD card, you don't have to worry about carrying a case filled with cartridges around. Digital games offer convenience at the cost of true ownership. When you download games from Nintendo, you also don't have to wait one second to get a game.
- Oct 02, 2013 Any games that require a firmware update will include it on the game cartridge itself. It's what they've done with the Wii and Wii U as well. So no, you don't need to be online.
DS Download Play (Single Cartridge):
- New Super Mario Bros - Up to 4 Players
- The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks - Up to 4 Players
- Bomberman Land: Touch! - Up to 8 Players
- Metroid Prime Pinball - Up to 4 Players
- Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - Up to 16 Players
- Lunar Knights - Up to 4 Players

The Nintendo DS is a handheld video game console that uses SD cards as its gaming medium. Like with many other video game consoles, the DS was hacked not too far into its life span. The hacking allowed owners to create their own game cartridges on the flash SD cards. Creating one of the game cartridges can be done using any SD card and a few game files.
Download one of the SNES ROMs (see Resources). Connect your card reader to the computer and insert the SD card into the card reader. Game ROMs are copies of the physical game in their digital form.
Click the 'Start' button and 'Computer' to open the list of drives on the computer. Double-click the SD card image to open the SD on the computer. Click the 'New Folder' option on the top portion of the window to make a new folder. Type in 'snes' to rename the folder to the proper title. Click the 'New Folder' button again and type in 'apps.'

Right-click the downloaded ROM file and click 'Copy.' Right-click the newly created 'snes' folder and click 'Paste' to transfer the game to the SD card.
Download the snes emulator (see Resources). Right-click it and click 'Copy.' Right-click the 'apps' folder and click 'Paste' to transfer the emulator application to the SD card.
Remove the SD card from the card reader and insert it into the DS. Select 'SNEmulDS' option from the DS menu to start the emulator and select the ROM from the list of games that appears to start playing.
